"We were pretty sure that was going to be controversial. It’s not like we were deluding ourselves, and we weren’t just doing it to be cool. We felt, in the case of Zod, we wanted to put the character in an impossible situation and make an impossible choice."
I actually think that Man of Steel’s shocking ending was excellent. I know a lot of comic book purists were livid, but this is a movie adaptation. It doesn’t have to be a comic book in motion, like Marvel movies. It should be interesting and provocative enough for non comic book film fans to walk away with substance. I think it was a decision that wasn’t taken lightly, and it offered a new insight into an American legend. I’m really excited for the sequel (even if Ben Affleck is Batman).
